Chronic school absenteeism is a global problem affecting students in every school in Canada. Educational loss increases suicide risk factors. Supporting students with school-induced anxiety and phobia is a suicide prevention issue.
YMHC has worked on these issues for over 20 years. They produced the first national survey on school phobia, avoidance, and absence, as well as a guidebook for families and schools on supporting students with school and community-wide strategies.
YMHC provides workshops, presentations, and training courses on supporting students with chronic school absenteeism.
